HotNatureFacts Hey nature lovers! Bear with me, since this post is going to be a little off-brand for a sec. But it's important and I'd appreciate if you read it in full.
I was invited to take part in a closed beta test for CC Corp's upcoming virtual reality MMO, Fragment. I used to play games a lot as a kid in the city, so I jumped at the opportunity to brush off the rust of my gaming muscles and make some new internet friends. It was fun!
At first.
First, we heard that one of the players fell unconscious and was out for 24 HOURS after touching a bugged asset (which was later removed, but never given an explanation for!). Then, another player couldn't log out and couldn't feel their real life body afterwards. Then somehow, one player interacted with bugged items in the game that left their avatar dead in the main city, while their REAL BODY was rendered comatose for a whole WEEK. Another was sent to the hospital for real life injuries sustained in the game.
Not to mention the countless other weird things happening, like weirdly personal armor that shouldn't even be a part of the game. Or how people's personal information is being broadcasted to other players. Some of the information, extremely private. How was any of this even implemented into the game in the first place??
The company has been content to ignore us outside of in-game channels, sending us away at HQ and returning our letters. They even blame us for some of the major incidents above. Talk about gaslighting, huh?
This beta has been an absolute shitshow and the devs refuse to take any responsibility for what's been happening. I'm starting to wonder if we'll only get any answers to this reckless beta if we start making noise outside of official channels. What the hell is going on, CC Corp?
(Add notes from Q&A later)
